DESCRIPTION
Buried in a paradisiacal place, where time and space seem to melt and stop for the delight of the spectator, located at only 60 km from the Perito Moreno National Park, the only one of great importance almost virgin in the Argentine Republic, It counts with more than 1100 km2 of preserved area, with less than 1000 tourist per year and the prominent presence of the San Lorenzo mount, the most highest of the south of Patagonia, which exceed in height and beauty theemblematic Fitz Roy, inclusive the proximity to the famous Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the Hands) and the Posadas and Pueyrredón lakes.
Located in a privileged situation over Provincial Route Nº 37, the only access to the National Park.
It counts with high permanent lagoons (2 of more than 20 hectares at more than 1000 meters of altitude), equipped with exuberant species of birds, which embrace from the Maca Tobiano, autochthonous and in extinction, going by the silver Maca, the Austral Flamingo (or Pink Flamingo), the black neck and white neck swans, hundreds of Bandurrias and great quantities of species of ducks.
With its multiple short lagoons (at less than 800 meters), the stay offers to the tourist a unique opportunity to identify itself with the true Patagonia. With a fauna that embrace from the pumas, open itself in a vast spectrum that includes the gump, the choique, the piche, the hairy, and the silver-plated and red foxes.
With all these qualities gathered the country promises a variety of inexhaustible possibilities, where the presence of water in astonishing quantities surrounds itself with 10 km of its own coast of the Belgrano River, after going down a bard of more than 70 meters, that is a true adventure.
It's privilege situation turn its high pampas into an scenario where the marvelous Andes can be appreciated, including the impressive San Lorenzo Mount (3.706 meters high), and where its real limits are only part of the imagination.
Geological studies attribute the pampas the possibility of the existence of hydrocarbons as well as some of the important mineral resources in the subsoil, where the presence of "obsidian" stands out , an exclusive stone of the area and present on the surface of the soil.
PRODUCTIVE APTITUDE
The stay presents the topography typical of the previous mountain range, constituted of several mallines, spurts, springs and natural slopes which convert the area in an exceptional place for the development of any forestal exploitation, breeding autochthonous livestock (gumps and choiques, natural of the area and of great ecological balance), until today where the sheep livestock and the bovines are the most profitable.
From the beggining the stay was exploited from the sheep livestock face being the nominal record or production of 1927 of almost 9.000 sheep shorn.
In the stablishment is carried out the summer breeding of bovinse keeping the animals during September to April moving them to other field at 25 Km. where th winter breeding is carried out . Nevertheless in the field exists a Valley of the Belgrano River where 300 bovines could stay during the winter woithout inconveniences.
The animals once breed are sold in Gobernador Gregores.
AQUIFEROUS AFFORESTATION
The stay counts with great mount of lagoons and other water resources of great visual value and richness with regard to its natural diversity, which enriches the acosystem through the great variety of birds species.
The lagoons 'La Mariana' and 'El Chali' surprise the tourist with its ineffable beauty of the crystalline waters and its incredible birds species. There are high permanent lagoons (more than 1000mts. of altitude); which together add approximately 20 to 25 hectares, being 'La Mariana' the biggest one. They are linked by a small natural canal, that during the summer season they dry off, leaving the lagoons linked by underground waters. The surface of the same ones freeze during winter, being inaccessible in that season.
Both are are nurtured of a permanent spring. In these lagoons studies done have established the possibility to sow the fish wealth.
There are other two permanent lagoons, 'Dos Hermanos' and 'Maximiliano', nitrous, low, that freeze during winter and its dimensions vary from season to season. They are of thaw and they unite in spring. Then 'La Marta' (permanent), and 'Cecile' and 'Bob' which dry off and disappear during summer
Finally, among the multiples low lagoons (less than 800 mts highyou can find 'La Genoveva' , which is the biggest lagoon of the Stay, with approximately 30 hectares of surface (it varies according the season of the year, although not as much as the others nitrous lagoons). This is the one that presents more quantity of birds species than others and its surface freezes during winter. You can access to it almost all the year, though it has a really good parallel footprint.
IMPROVEMENTS
Hull constituted of 5 houses, 1 principal, 2 smaller than this one and 2 of adobe with floor of autochthonous stone which is a relic.
Principal house with 2 bedrooms, complete bathroom with hot water, dinning-room and 4 bedrooms with floor of wood, complete kitchen and storeroom.The construction is of masonry brickes with zinc roof.
Personal house with 4 ambients and kitchen, constructed all in masonry of brickes and cement blocks revoked, cement lapping floors and roof of zinc, at the same as the foreman house.
1 Shed for shear of 15x20mts, with fixed installation for shear of 8 guides working, a scale and an imported press from England of good quality. It also counts with a small masonry shop.
3 Mills that distribute current water to the installations and 6 weels.
4 squares and 7 paddocks divided through internal wire with some sectors to improbé.
Complete natural gas installation.
REGIONAL INFORMATION
Hydrocarbons
The Estancia is situated in a marginal part of the Austral Basin
The nearest well is located at 3230 Km exactly to the south of the same one, and it is called Yacimiento Bajada Fortaleza.
The nearest gas production well is located ar 120 Km., but it was not developed as deposit.
In the neighboring areas and even covering part of the surface of the stay, there had been areas of exploration delimited by the Houston Plan or Argentina Plan. The HuntOil Company got them, but later on, it gave them back after digging a well without success.
In 1966, YPF dug a well in Las Horquetas for study purposes, to see if there was something of interest in the area. They reached the conclusion that there were few possibilities of finding important deposits.
At this moment, the province of Santa Cruz is in charge of the areas that HuntOil left behind and in some moment it will surely tender for them again with new borders. If they get benefit with the law of high risk, they will probably get contestants.
The area where the stay is located is very close to the border of the basin. That's why, it not seems probable that deposits can be found. A modern earthquake study would be necessary to analyse the possibility of the existance of interesting accumulations to justify the exploitation.
NATIONAL PARK PERITO MORENO
At only 70 Km. from Stay, you can find the National Park Perito Moreno. Along its 115.000has. converge a representative sample of the Patagonia steppe and of the humid sub-Antarctic forests, where some significant species live, such as the threatened huemul, Los Andes emblem.
At the same time, there are fossils at important paleontologist sites, which indicate the existence of a millennial past. Moreover, substantial archeological remains reflect the human being vestige.
The scenario embraces two important basins composed by 8 lagoons, seven of these flow in the Pacific Ocean and only one, the Burmeister lake, flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
CUEVA DE LAS MANOS (CAVE OF THE HANDS)
Sourronded in hundreds of kilometers only for the constant rumor of the patagonico wind. BAJO CARALOLES (UNDER SNAILS)
Bajo Caracoles is a population located 128 km south of Perito Moreno, an antique small village today converted into a potential tourist place towards the diverse attractiveness of the area (Cueva de las Manos (Cave of the hands), Posadas lake, Los Antiguos and National Park Perito Moreno).
In order to visit it you have to take the Route 40 till you get to the yellow, greenish and reddish colored elevations, because of the existence of minerals in the composition of rocks and land. It has an altitude of 450msnm and a semi arid climate under long hours of sun. The most quainter stretches are the cañadones of the Telkem, Feo stream of the Ecker river.
